The Mira Jean Story
Mira Jean Designs is the creation of artist & lead designer Kate Hougen. As a child, Kate grew up overseas and lived in Africa and the Middle East. It was here her love of textiles and bold colors began. Mira Jean Designs, LLC began with the launch of a textile collection. Wallpapers followed, and then interior design and decorating services.
Work has been featured in Traditional Home, Cottages & Bungalows and Arlington Magazines, and Business of Design (Episode 216) . In 2024, Mira Jean was voted Best Interior Designer by Arlington Magazine.
Our approach is thoughtful and collaborative. Our work is colorful, fresh and fun. Interior spaces blend the right mix of practical, beautiful and functional. Meet the Team
Design Assistant Jessica Viator brings a keen eye for design to every project. With a background in NYC fashion and love of contemporary design, she helps find the right pieces for our Clients and brings that perfect interior styling touch to each space. An Army brat, she is proud to call Arlington, Virginia home today. When she's not designing, can be found at a nearby baseball field watching her kids' latest double header or chasing after her new cocker spaniel pup.
Design Assistant Julie Rucker brings a sense of calm and positivity to every project. An Ohio native and former Atlanta transplant, Julie fostered her love of design close to her home today in Arlington, Virginia, sourcing, designing and selecting everything for her own new build - AND during the pandemic ... no small feat! Her solutions oriented thinking and great eye for design help keep every project running smoothly.
